Assistance for Fire Evacuees.
Taos Food Coop
314 Paseo del Pueblo N
Taos, NM 87571
Our SBDC Director Anwar Kaelin has been working with the government agencies who are working on the fires and assistance and with small businesses who are impacted by the fires. He reports that the Penasco shelter has plenty of volunteers and supplies, but the Las Vegas shelter is short-handed and needs food and supplies.
Unfortunately, to get there from here, we need to go through Santa Fe because all of the other roads are closed.
As of Sunday May 15, we now also have an evacuation center at the Ag Center in Taos. The evacuee center in Penasco will Likely have to move to Taos.
Enter Black Mesa Winery! Black Mesa Winery has generously offered to donate 5% of their sales to the Coop to add to our own efforts and yours. We will use these funds to supply the Las Vegas shelter with dry goods and fresh vegetables.
The Coop is currently matching member donations. Unity of Taos has made a large donation as well. Please click the donate button below if you are willing and able to contribute. We will be driving the food to the evacuation centers where it is most needed. If you would rather bring or mail a check to the Coop, make checks payable to Taos Food Coop and put "food drive for fire" in the memo. 100% of the funds will be used for food, locally, for firemen and evacuees.
Thanks so much for your consideration.
